ROMANTIC AND COZY GETAWAY ON THE DRAVA RIVER
Not because it’s my hometown, but it’s a really beautiful city. It still exudes the charm of the most romantic period of human history, for me, the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
I spent my childhood and teenage years here and despite not living in it half my life, I am accompanied by the feeling that I never completely abandoned it. Whenever I can, and that’s a few times a year, I always come back with equal joy. Family, friends and long walks through the streets of Osijek is something that binds me to this city and does not let go for more than twenty years. For me, Osijek is the most beautiful, not entirely because it is my hometown, but also because of Secession and Baroque buildings, several kilometres long promenade along the Drava river, parks, green streets and especially the people of Osijek with a sharp sense of humour of what every British would be proud of ?
Osijek is charming and pleasant, it is not ruled by noise, stressful vibes and annoying crowds.
It is the largest city in eastern Croatia (Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem), and the fourth largest in Croatia. Osijek is part of the European Danube region and a river port for cruising located approximately 20 km from the confluence of the Drava and Danube rivers. It is surrounded by three neighbouring countries, Hungary 50 km to the north, Serbia 35 km to the east and Bosnia 100 km to the south. The Drava River has the status of an international waterway from Osijek to its mouth.
LOCATION: The city of Osijek is placed in northeast Croatia by the Drava river in the region called SLAVONIA.
